Across North America, the walleye rates as one of the most sought after and favored game fish among anglers. Techniques for catching these critters may be well-known and elementary, and those include jigging, trolling and bottom bouncing.

In spring walleyes move close to rocks, sandy shorelines and creeks to spawn. After the spawn when the season opens walleyes are concentrated throughout these areas and feed heavily to replenish themselves. Fishing during this period of time can be highly productive resulting in high numbers of fish landed. The recommended lure at this time of year is a jig tipped with soft plastic.
In summer as the water warms up and the days get longer walleyes tend to move to sunken reefs, rock points or submerged weed beds. Great success can be achieved by trolling crank-baits, twitching stick-baits over weeds or jigging any of these locations
